Underground Tank Removal
Removing the tank entirely removes the associated liability and leaves the cleanest possible environmental record for future financing or sale. Properties built before 1980 frequently contain legacy underground tanks that were abandoned in place when heating systems converted to gas, and many owners don’t discover them until an inspection or a sale surfaces the issue.
Our removal process starts by pumping out all remaining petroleum products in strict accordance with PADEP regulations. The tank is then excavated and transported to a licensed salvage facility. Once it’s out, the excavated area is backfilled with screened topsoil, and the site is restored. Heavy clay soils common in parts of lower Bucks County can mask slow leaks for years, which is why a professional assessment matters even when there’s no visible sign of a problem.
In-Place Tank Abandonment
When a tank’s location makes excavation impractical, abandonment in place is a legitimate alternative. Most Bucks County municipalities allow a tank to be cut open, thoroughly cleaned, and filled with sand or concrete when removal isn’t feasible.
Proper abandonment requires pumping out the tank, cutting it open, and removing all solid sediment before filling. Municipalities or property owners often request soil analysis beforehand to document that no leak has occurred. New Underground Oil Tank Installation
In some Bucks County neighborhoods, an underground fuel storage tank remains the most practical heating option because of lot size, zoning restrictions, or property layout.
After the ground is leveled and a soft soil bed is prepared, the new tank is set and pressure tested. Backfill is completed while the tank is still under pressure to confirm no fittings or connections were compromised during burial. Soil is then mounded and graded to allow for natural settlement. Permits are pulled and utilities are marked before any ground is broken.

I needed to get my old oil tank removed and have a new one installed. Everyone was kind and knowledgeable. Let me know one of my plants might be in the way during the removal instead of just destroying my plant and never saying anything about it.
